Just Catching Up!
After a great 2006, I have to apologize to any of you that still check for new material. 2007 has been a busy year but not much travelling. My daughter got married this year and that threw my travel plans into a holding pattern. I did take a week long trip to Cape Cod which I documented the first half in the last edition of my blog. I didn't complete that one. We spent a week in Franconia, NH in a timeshare and then went back in the fall for another week in the camper. We had a really great time but did not document them. Maybe in the future cold weeks of winter We will take the time to document our two trips into the White Mountains.
We have been busy. We have been working on a house we are getting ready to sell. We have apparently waited until the bottom fell out of the market. It is more of a challenge that way.
We got wrapped up in a great upheaval in our church and worked on committees to try to save it. Time will still tell whether we were successful. A sense of purpose and calm has returned but with quite a few people having left and leaving their pledges unfulfilled, this next cycle of budget and pledging will determine the actual outcome.
The wedding was really nice. Ivy picked the formal gardens of the Moffat Ladd House in Portsmouth for the venue. It was the hottest day of the year, sweltering but the ceremony was beautiful even with everyone a little sweaty.
In the shuffle of people at the church, we ended up as the church supper guhrus. That has taken a lot of our time but has been very successful.
We had planned to leave in the middle of the summer this year and head for the southwest but with the wedding in late August, we abondoned our travel plans for the year and started planning for next summer. We plan to leave early and head back to Alaska. We had such a great time last year that we really want to go back and see if it as great the second time. We also had the northern part of the state that we never got to so we need to go back. I also feel that there is a King Salmon up there with my name on it.
We just put in a wood stove and will finish hooking it up today (said that on the last several days). The thimble into the flue that was installed when the house was built seems to be a mongrel. None of the adapters we have used have fit it.
Well, that about catches up.
